Track- Let the fun begin!

So, Kaley's meet is from 8-11:30 and Ainsley's is from 11:30-2:30...and considering they run late- well, our Saturday's are now going to be spent at a track. We are going to miss a couple because of Kaley's party as well as May Crowning, so we really only have just a few meets to go to . I arrived at Kaley's meet when it was close to being over as the night before, Ainsley went to a Brownie Sleepover and while we did not spend the night, it was still close to 10 pm when she fell asleep. Needless to say, she was tired on Saturday. Michael took Kaley and Ainlsey and I joined up with them. I will get more photos of Kaley this week.

Stations of the Cross- 3rd's turn

Last Friday was 3rd Grades turn at holding Stations of the Cross. Ainlsey read the "14th Station". She was in her element- dressing up and speaking in front of a large crowd- Two of her favorite things!

Bus trip to see Jigsaw Jones

The 1st-3rd graders traveled to the Aronoff to see a production of Jigsaw Jones. It had a good message about being comfortable with who you are and not trying to gain friends by being someone, you're not.

We Won!!

We had our last VBall Tourney for the season last Friday. We won our first game on Friday, played Saturday and won and returned Sunday for the Championships...and WON- now, onto Track.
Cheering for the other All Saints team, who also won- they are a really good team-

Thank you daddy for being such a good line judge!

The other All Saints Team played after us, but came to watch and cheer us on.

Cotswold Park/Highfield Discovery Garden

Ainlsey's Brownie Troop went to Cotswold Park, where through the Highfield Discovery Garden, they learned about Maple Sugaring. We all learned a lot about how Maple Syrup is collected, boiled and bottled for consumption. It was fascinating! When the tree is tapped and the sap starts to run, the sap is clear...looks just like water and is the same consistency, too. It is mostly water, so when it is boiled...it takes a lot (I've forgotten just how much- but A Lot!!) just to make a small container like McDonalds serves with its' pancakes. New appreciation for the taste and price of real Maple Syrup.

Kaley was the only one who would stand with Frog and Toad...a family favorite!

The Frogs had just come "out"..and they were everywhere.

Kaley earned the right to wear a crazy hat

Kaley has been working very hard on her "Books are terrific" project at school. She and others earned the right to wear a crazy hat to school.

Pysanky

We went to Dayton (to an Orthodox Church)over the weekend to make Ukrainian Eggs (Pysanky). Making them involves a techique of applying wax over dyes and making interesting patterns. To seal each color, and to go onto another, you add another design of wax. It was a memorable thing to do with our family...it could become a new tradition. Our first in Cincinnati!

Kaley and Michael using the kiska. A tool with a tiny funnel which has a hole in the middle. You put a rice sized pc. of bees wax in the top, hold the pointed part in the flame of a candle (note the girls have their hair back!) and draw with the hot wax on the egg. Doesn't sound like it would be very safe, but the girls, especially Kaley really got into it.

Friday Night Fish Fry

You know you're in Cincinnati when....even the bus shelters advertise Lenten Friday Night Fish Frys at the local Churches. Here are a few photos from ours.

Oh Sunny Day

Sunday was the start of a warming trend...it warmed up to the low 50's. The girls were happy to have their "hello to spring" picnic in the front yard.

I've always wanted a clothes line. This tree works fine, though, too.
