Australian Day and Pavlova

Ainsley's been studying Australia in her Social Studies class. To end the study, Mrs. Snyder (her Soc. Studies teacher), had an Aussie Day celebration with food and festivites. Mrs. Snyder sent home recipes and the parents brought in their assigned treats. We made Pavlova's (a meringue shell filled with cream and berries). The class was allowed to modify their dress code, wearing red, white and blue (the colors of Australia). Here are 3rd graders enjoying their treats.

100 Days for Kaley

Kaley's class is celebrating 100 days next week at school. She found heart shaped pasta and decorated her paper with it. It will be a week filled with lots of fun as we celebrate Catholic Schools week. More to come on that!

Happy Valentine's Day

Being as I wasn't organized enough to have a Christmas photo taken of the girls...we did one for Valentine's Day! Ainsley wasn't feeling the greatest this day, but we had photos taken anyway....come to find out, she had strept throat- we did so well making it through last year, with no illness-

Sand Cats at the Zoo

While Ainsley was with Brownies today at the Cincinnati Ballet, Kaley and I ran to the zoo to see what the animals were doing (also, she worked very hard at getting her book report done early- so this was how we spent our "homework" time- being as she didn't have any!! So proud of her).

The Sand Cat Kittens were born in October and are still pretty small. Too bad they were sleeping!

This picture cracks me up. It was almost as if the animals we did see today wanted lots of attention.

White lioness, which Kaley insists is NOT white!!! They show the Lion on certain days and the lioness on others. But not together.

Ready to go out

Those silly girls.

Yesterday, we heard clomp, clomp, clomp, giggle, giggle, giggle..."Darling, we must hurry, the show is going to start".

And around the corner this was the sight which greeted us.

then, they were off...

Giggle, Giggle, Giggle, Clomp, Clomp, Clomp (did they ask to borrow my shoes???)

Fiesta!!

The Cincinnati Symphony performs Concerts for Kids on Saturday's and we were lucky enough to take in their recent performance "Fiesta". The Symphony does an outstanding job of incorporating other studies of art during their concerts. With this one, they has Salsa dancers from a local company as well as dancers from the Cincinnati Ballet, whom danced while the orchestra played. It was really Festive

Making crafts beforehand. They also had a musical petting zoo, featuring string instruments as well as those from the brass family.

Ainlsey looks very pale here- she wasn't feeling too well....but certainly wasn't THIS white!

Sarah and her Grandparents sat in front of us. She was ready to dance with her tissue paper flower in her mouth!

Out of Uniform Day

The girls worked very hard last week- earning a dollar each so that they could be out of uniform on Friday. The $$$ raised went to feed hungry children in Zimbabwe (African Relief). This week, we will be teaming up with Matthew 25 Ministries to donated items needed for Haiti.

MLK Play date with Annie and Ashley

There were so many MLK activities on Monday, but we decided to have play dates, instead. They did lots- built a Marble Run, Made and played with Salt Playdough, Made clay keychains and here, they are building towers with sugar wafers and frosting. We didn't need to break out the icecream after this project.

Volleyball

How proud is Michael that Ainsley has very quickly figured out Volleyball? VERY! Ainsley scored the two last winning points for our team on Sunday's game. We seem to be able to win one of the three games each match.....we'll get there! The team is also happy to have Michael with his Volleyball knowledge as he Line Judge for the games.

.

We are referred to as the "Scandinavian team" as all the girls are about the same height with long blonde ponytails

All Saints cheering squad.

How we spent our day today

No school today because of the SNOW!!! Crazy, but true- so we made the most of our day. It took some effort to convince Kaley that she needed to wear her snow suit outside and after missing the morning of playing with the girls, she finally decided to give it a try. Once she got out there, there was no turning back. We don't want to use too many of these calamity days because we are only allowed four and we've already used two.
Dillion is now 14 months old

More snow day photos

Kaley is missing from this photo in front of the Hacks....she wasn't sure about wearing her bib overalls. When she saw what she was missing, she quickly changed her mind.
