Kaley's carrot

We pulled some carrots today. They were left in the ground a bit too long and some "creature" got to it first. The girls had fun pulling and washing their carrots, but chose not to eat them!

Lawn Darts with Q-Tips

Dr. Ainsley and Kaley were out jumping rope yesterday when Ainsley reached into her pocket and pulled out q-tips. She then exclaimed, "we can play lawn darts with the q-tips"... The girls played this game for the longest time.

Splish Fish

Good job Kaley. Last year, the teen teachers at the nearby Cabana Club allowed Kaley to sit on the side for two weeks. What a diference one year and new teachers can make! Kick, Kaley, kick

Another happy girl!

The girls are taking swim lessons....again...this year. Our friends, the Stevensons, suggested this swim school and boy, are they good! The progress we've made in one week is amazing. I am looking forward to the end of next week. The girls will be in good shape for swimming at Grandma Kaye's when we go to Fresno to celebrate Grandpa Ron's birthday with him over July 4th..

Butano State Park

After leaving Costanoa, we took a side trip to Butano State Park. Situated in the redwoods, Butano has lots of trails. We parked along the road and took a walk through the redwoods. It was very serene.

Holy Trini tree-

We were walking along when Ainsley grabbed my arm and said "mommy, look it is just like the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. One God, three persons". Thank you to Glenna for reading the book "3-in-1" during the childrens liturgy at Mass a few weeks ago during Holy Trinity Sunday. I was taken back that Ainsley would look at this growth of redwoods and come up with her observation. She then giggled and said "Holy Trini tree"... As quickly as she pointed out the Holy Trini tree...she moved on to banana slugs. Ainsley and Kaley really liked petting them.....yuck! Kaley wanted to bring them home, because they were....yellow.
Boy, do they look alike, or what?

Celebrating Summer Solstice

Okay, I am trying to get caught up on my postings...but am so far behind. How does this happen?

Tonight, I took the girls to a columbarium in Oakland to celebrate Summer Solstice. New Music Bay Area and Chapel of the Chimes presented Garden of Memory 2007: a Columbarium Walk-Through Event at Chapel of the Chimes, a labyrinthine Julia Morgan-designed columbarium and mausoleum replete with gardens, fountains, and stained-glass skylights. The acoustics were incredible as were the participating musicians. Ainsley had the "creeps" at first, but Kaley enjoyed it from the get go. The little miss plopped herself right down on the remains of someone and devoured her pasta. Ainsley chose to sit on a bench, but asked if it used to "be" someone. Where did her adventurous spirit go???? After a while, she warmed up and really had fun exploring the many rooms/nooks and crannies following the music throughout. Not only was the night filled with great sounds, but it was good to see some colorful people, too. This event attracted an interesting audience, in some cases.

Ainsley the horse rider

Ainsley had the oppt. to ride horses while staying at Costanoa. Kaley opted to not ride the horses , but wanted to feed them carrots, instead.
