It's a bird, It's a plane.....it's Santa Claus???

Yes...Santa Claus. He dropped in at Buchanan Fields last Saturday. It was pretty cool when you could start to make out his outfit and even cooler when you could hear him bellow "Merry Christmas". We met up with Anthony, Lina and baby Elena....which was lots of fun.

Diversity Fashion Show at Macys

Ainsley and Kaley were in a fashion show sponsored by the Parent affinity and diversity groups at Macys, held in San Francisco. Ainsley wore traditional dress from Santa Barbara, a district in Honduras. Kaley wore a dress (we wore it as a top) from Nicaragua. The girls did really well in their first fashion show. Ainsley was funny. She came out, smiled, stood there while the description of her dress was being read and then did a turn. The crowd broke out in laughter and applause. Kaley came out with Renee and another little girls. Renee walked both girls around. It was very cute. Following the fashion show, a sari wrapping demonstration was held. Fascinating!! A sari is 6 yards of fabric being wrapped around the bottom half of a lady with the last yard draped over the shoulder.

School is now out for Kaley. She concluded 2006 by entertaining us at her Winter Fest. Kaley's friend Naomi wearing her dinosaur hat and tail.

Playing in the snow....in Martinez

The first weekend in December, Martinez flies in two tons of snow to create a snowpark in downtown Martinez. I took the girls this year. Kaley was good going down once, but had no desire to tackle the hill after the first time. Ainsley, on the other hand could not get enough of it.

Eating with chopsticks

The girls were pretty excited when they found these training chopsticks at Sur La Table in Walnut Creek. Ainsley's has a dolphin on the end and Kaley's, an elephant. They have had more fun eating with these.

SOCKS project

Ainsley was glad to be able to assist Cindy Lui from the University of Oregon with an inhome study on how parents values influence children. Prior to wearing the SOCKS shirt, which she changed into as soon as it was given to her, Ainsley was proudly wearing her pink U of O teeshirt, which she put on just for the interview.
