Western Railway Museum with Rapelas

Sunday, we went with the Rapelas to Suisun City to check out the Western Railway Museum. We rode the electric train 5 miles out to a pumpkin patch where the wee ones played on a hay stack, meanered their way through the hay maze, hitched a ride on a hay ride, played old fashioned games and even ran into our former neighbors- Adam, Lisa, Noah and Zack. We had a really enjoyable time riding the rails and visiting the museum http://www.wrm.org/

Melody and Ainsley got new guitars to strum along to music by the Hipwaders. In Ainsley recap of the weekend, one of her 2nd grade assignments, she wrote that she loves her new guitar.

Southern Belle and Fairy

Nana made the girls' Halloween costumes this year. Ainlsey decided she wanted to be a Southern Belle and Kaley, a pink and purple fairy. Wishes do come true! The costumes arrived early last week and fit perfectly. We went to a bowling party this past weekend....here are a few photos of the girls beforehand. Ainsley and a couple of her friends won prizes for their costumes. Kaley should've won a prize for her sad face when Ainlsey was picked and she wasn't. Those watching the couldn't help but feel Kaley's sadness when Ainlsey was picked and she wasn't. She is a pretty cute fairy in my book!!

Pippi Longstocking

Ainlsey has had a couple of family projects due this year. Her most recent one, decorating a pumpkin in the likeness of a character from a book, is due tomorrow. Ainsley chose to decorate her pumpkin like Pippi Longstocking. We had fun working on it together.

World Record- Guitar attendance

We took part in setting a world record for the most people strumming the same song....for over six minutes. We played "This land is your land, this land is my land" by Woodie Guthrie. The number to beat was 1400+, and the last count (still needs to be confirmed) was we were over 2000. Go Concord and Joe McDonald (who did our count down)!

Crazy hair day

We had a couple of theme days at VBS. On Tuesday, the little ones brought in the their favorite stuffed animal, Wednesday was dress up day, Thursday, PJ day and Friday, Crazy hair day. Ainlsey came up with this one on her own.

VBS- Son World Adventure Park

We had VBS two weeks ago. Our helper was Miss Kimi and Mrs. Kass led our crafts each day. We made many cute items, but boo-boo bunnies and puppies were among the favorites of the children.

Kaley and her violin

Kaley started violin lessons at Civic Arts two weeks ago...and she loves it.

Valenine's Day in the City

It's Tulipmania time again at Pier 39 and we were there to draw the tulips.

Ainsley's flower. We missed the docent tour, but this flower seemed to be one of a kind.

Kaley's flower, PrimulaThe tulips were in bloom the best we've seen in 3 years!!! So many vivid colors.

We draw at the same place each year- right by the statues of the Sea Lions, which we must climb when we're done. This is the view from the 8th level (roof) of the Ellis/O'Farrell Garage, which is where we park when we pick up daddy from work.
