Celebrating Summer Solstice

Okay, I am trying to get caught up on my postings...but am so far behind. How does this happen?

Tonight, I took the girls to a columbarium in Oakland to celebrate Summer Solstice. New Music Bay Area and Chapel of the Chimes presented Garden of Memory 2007: a Columbarium Walk-Through Event at Chapel of the Chimes, a labyrinthine Julia Morgan-designed columbarium and mausoleum replete with gardens, fountains, and stained-glass skylights. The acoustics were incredible as were the participating musicians. Ainsley had the "creeps" at first, but Kaley enjoyed it from the get go. The little miss plopped herself right down on the remains of someone and devoured her pasta. Ainsley chose to sit on a bench, but asked if it used to "be" someone. Where did her adventurous spirit go???? After a while, she warmed up and really had fun exploring the many rooms/nooks and crannies following the music throughout. Not only was the night filled with great sounds, but it was good to see some colorful people, too. This event attracted an interesting audience, in some cases.

Ainsley had the oppt. to ride horses while staying at Costanoa. Kaley opted to not ride the horses , but wanted to feed them carrots, instead.

The Worthley girls take daddy camping for Father's Day and this year, we went to Costanoa Lodge and Spa. We pitched our tent and had a blast. Costanoa is located near Pescadero, between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz on Hwy 1. The campsite was great with a nice view of the ocean. There was a walking trail across Hwy 1 and down to the beach, where we spent all day on Saturday. Ainsley rode horses and in the evenings, we played tether ball, roasted marshmallows at the comfort station and listened to a fascinating talk about the stars and planets. Joe, who works for NASA Ames Research Center, gave us our talk about the evening skies and it was really good. Best of all was his green laser, which he used to point out the objects in the sky. Ainsley and Kaley made friends with a couple of girls who shared their American Girl dolls with our girls. Where is daddy in these photos? We've got him setting up the tent, cleaning the grills, hunting something for us to eat for dinner..no not really. We took really good care of him this weekend. He works hard for us!

Last day of Kindergarten for Ainsley

Ainsleys last day of Kindergarten was celebrated with a pancake breakfast cooked by Mr. Hanebury. It was also Flag Day, so Ainsley and Kaley sported their red, white and blue. A couple of little gifts were given to Mrs. Hanebury. Ainsley picked out sugars w/flower decorations for her tea and Kaley gave her a cross for her car visor which had a prayer on it about protecting teachers.

Western Day at School

Ainlsey's second to the last day was celebrated with a Western Day. The students decorated hats and dressed in western atttire. Kinders catered the luncheon....yummy!

Tennis Kaley

Kaley is taking tennis lessons at the Lafayette Tennis Club. She is having a ball and likes her coach, Jason. The first lesson, there were only three little girls..but word on this great class has gotten out and now they are up to seven boys and girls. So much for our nearly private lesson :)

Bay Area Crisis Nursery

The Daisy Troop visitied the Bay Area Crisis Nursey on Thursday. The girls presented the Nursery with many sizes of pajamas ranging from 6 months to 6 years. The girls were too young to tour the facility, but they were shown a slideshow about the miracle makeover in which the BACN was transformed in to a much nicer place.
